Chandigarh-
is the capital of Punjab. It is a well planned city designed
by Le Corbusier, a French architect. It is India's most beautiful
city.
The Rock Garden is an exquisite fantasy created
from waste, discarded sanitary ware, fuses, broken bangles,
pottery and such. The Rose Garden is Asia's largest, with
thousands of varieties. Yadavindra Gardens
are also worth visiting.
Sukhna Lake is an artificial lake, for boating and water skiing.
Mountain Quail Complex at Morni Hills is
ideal for trekking.
Patiala-
is a royal place with famous forts, palaces and gardens.
Patiala Fort holds an impressive
collection of chandeliers and has an armory.
Moti Bagh Palace was built in 1847
and has terraces, fountains and canals.
Baba Ala Singh's samadhi, the
Bara Dari Palace and the new Moti
Bagh Palace are other landmarks of Patiala
not to be missed.
Amritsar-
Golden Temple is covered by gold-plated
copper sheets, hence the name. The stone inlaid work and floral
decoration is very artistic and unique.
Jallianwala Bagh marks the site where General
Tyer ordered the massacre of thousands of Indians.
Durgiana Mandir is a famous temple of Hindu worship.
Ram Bagh is today known as
Punjab Government Museum, which is
a beautiful palace and garden built by Maharaja
Ranjit Singh.
