Gujarat
lies on the west coast. In the north-west is the Rann of Kutch
which is an almost rainless desert and a large salt marsh.
It's south-west is rimmed by the Western Ghats , Satpura resort
is it's eastern extent.
Gujarat
was under the rule of the Solanki dynasty followed by the
Vaghelas and finally by the Mughals in the 16th century.

Ahmedabad
It is Gujarats principal city Sidi Saiyad's Mosque is
known for it's artistic architecture.The minarets at Sidi
Bashirs' Mosque at Kalipur and Gomtipur are unique - they
vibrate when pressure is applied on the inner walls.
The 'Ashram' or hermitage built on the banks of Sabarmati
River by Mahatma Gandhi is worth visiting, particularly the
Gandhi memorabilia and literature.
The Indian Institute of Management Building designed by Louis
Kahn and National Institute of Design are some of the modern
structures.
Calico Museum, located at Shahibag, is the best known textile
museum in India.Shreyas Folk Museum in Ambavati and Tribal
Museum on Ashram Road make an interesting exhibition of Gujarat
folk crafts.
Sundarvan snake park, Sarkhej Roza and the Vechar Utensil
Museum are worth visting.
Lothal -
is an important archaeological site dating back to the 2nd
millennium BC.
Modhera-
has a thousand-year-old Sun Temple with beautifully
carved pillars.
Palitana
boasts of 863 Jain temples. Shri Adishwara Temple has a fascinating
jewel collection.
Little Rann of Kutch-
the barren expanse of "desert, which divides Gujarats
western region of Kutch from rest of Gujarat, is the home
of the last remaining population of Khur the Asiatic
wild Ass in India.
Sasan
Gir Lion Sanctuary-
the last home of Asaitic lion.
Junagadh-
an interesting town situated right at the base of the temple-studded
Girnar Hill, famous for its Jain temples.
